Boyfiend snores very loudly, how do i sleep?

Question by Abigail: Boyfiend snores very loudly, how do i sleep?
My boyfriend snores verrrryyyyyyy loudly, all night, every night. I am exhausted, i don’t know what to do. Im literally getting 3-4 hours sleep a night if im lucky. Ive ended up sleeping at the other end of the bed, with a pillow over my head and its not working. Ive even tried to listen to my music and i can still hear him over the music with headphones on! I love him to pieces and i really don’t want to make him feel bad but i’m getting to a point now where im soooo exhausted my emotions are taking over and i start crying. At this very moment in time, he is asleep and snoring and i don’t know what to do. Please, someone help me with this!!!!!

  1. You had better start sleeping by yourself because if he snores you will never get rest.

  2. If he sleeps face up his mouth is open witch causes him to snore convince him to sleep on his side or on his stomache as this will stop the snoring.

  3. Try whistling in his ear.
Couches are very very comfy. Seriously.
    Good luck!
    ………….

  4. Hard exercise throughout the day.
Trying doing chin/pullups, first day will tire you out, you won’t have any problems sleeping. Sex is good too=)

Tell your boyfriend to drink 3 glasses of water before bed.
This will wake him up in the night, stopping snoring for a while so u can sleep.

    White noise.
Unlike music, its just soothing natural noise, should help, though not to a great extent.

  5. Snoring has been a problem for me since I met my girlfriend three years ago. During that time, I’ve tried Breathe Right strips, mouthpieces, and anti-snoring spray. The Breathe Right strips seemed to help, but often fall off in the middle of the night. The mouthpiece was pure murder. I couldn’t fall asleep with that thing in my mouth and it caused the full weight of my mandible to fall upon my lower teeth, which was quite uncomfortable and I actually think it would have pulled my teeth out of alignment if I had worn it more. The spray was completely useless.

The best thing I’ve found is to sleep on my stomach or side using a tennis ball attached to my back. You can get a special shirt with a pocket in the back (check out http://www.jtmathers.com) that holds a tennis ball. It’s too uncomfortable to sleep on your back with it, so eventually your body learns to stay off of it and I snore much less.

  6. Hi. Actually there are many things you or your boyfriend can do. There are many solutions against snoring, but it is very hard for me to pick one because it depends what is the original cause of his snoring. Here is an article I wrote on the various remedies against snoring: http://sleepdisorders.dolyan.com/snoring/snoring-qa/what-is-the-best-stop-snoring-home-remedy. There I talk about nasal strips, changing position when sleeping, losing weight in case of overweight, etc. If your boyfriend’s snore is not from nasal congestion but from mouth/throat then an anti snore pillow may help him. I just finished reviewing the SONA anti snore pillow, you can read that here http://sleepdisorders.dolyan.com/snoring/anti-snore-solutions/sona-anti-snore-pillow-review. The pillow aligns your body in such a way as to increase the air passage thereby eliminating or reducing snoring.
There is a lot more I can add, just look in the Snoring category there on the site and I am sure one of the solutions will work for you and your boyfriend.
