Your Snoring May Be A Symptom Of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea

Everybody knows someone who snores, or who has trouble sleeping on a regular basis because of snoring. For the people who cannot sleep and the people around them it can become very stressful and impact upon their daily duties. Everyone needs enough sleep to be able to feel refreshed the following day.

Most people tend to think that snoring is a harmless part of life, and part of some one’s sleep, whereas in fact it can actually be damaging to your health and can lead to more serious conditions.

Snoring has been found to be the root cause of many people’s sleeping issues, leading to fatigue and being grumpy and stressed the following day because of lack of sleep. Snoring can become very challenging and upsetting if left alone and not treated at the early stages of development.

Snoring may be an indicator of a serious underlying condition known as Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). If this is untreated and left to progress it can lead to more serious problems such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and strokes, which when you think about it, wouldn’t you rather have your snoring treated earlier rather than going through the pain and discomfort likely with other conditions further down the track?

This can be treated with a highly effective method of snoring prevention, the SomnoDent™ MAS. MAS stands for Mandibular Advancement Splint. This is where a mouth guard is placed in your mouth to help people to stop snoring. It is completely comfortable and non intrusive on normal things you would do, for example yawning and drinking.

If you feel you could be in benefit of sleep dentistry do not hesitate to contact your local dentist to see if they can help to alleviate your sleep problems today.

Dental Implants – What Is It?

Surprisingly, the first evidence of dental implants date back to the Mayan civilization, long before their earliest uses in modern societies. Yet it wasn’t until 1952 that an orthopedic surgeon in Sweden began studying bone healing and regeneration and discovered that bone will effectively adhere to titanium, leading to the first use of dental implants later that same year. Today, dental implants are used to support a variety of dental prostheses from crowns and bridges to dentures.
